Equipping young women with practical skills and opportunities doesn’t just change their lives—it transforms entire communities. At Jodeb Foundation, we believe that when women are empowered economically, they become drivers of sustainable change, lifting their families and societies along with them.
That’s why we’re proud to highlight the Rural Girls Aid Project (RGAP), an initiative dedicated to providing vocational training, business support, and essential resources to young rural women in Ghana.
This year, RGAP has taken another significant step forward, ensuring that young women in Ottareso, a farming community in the Eastern Region, are equipped with the tools they need to build their own livelihoods.
A Step Toward Financial Independence
For many young women in rural Ghana, access to vocational training and startup resources is a distant dream. The barriers to self-sufficiency—including limited financial support, social expectations, and lack of access to equipment—often prevent them from achieving their full potential.
Through the Rural Girls Aid Project (RGAP), Jodeb Foundation is bridging this gap by not only providing skills training but also ensuring that these young women have the right tools to begin their entrepreneurial journeys.
In our latest intervention, we proudly presented three sewing machines and a standing hair dryer to four young women in Ottareso. These tools will allow them to launch their businesses in dressmaking and hairdressing, offering them:
✅ Financial independence to support themselves and their families
✅ Entrepreneurial skills that pave the way for long-term stability
✅ Confidence and self-reliance to become role models for other young women
What is the Rural Girls Aid Project (RGAP)?
The Rural Girls Aid Project (RGAP) is a transformational initiative designed to empower young women in rural areas by providing them with:
🔹 Vocational training in skilled trades (sewing, hairdressing, craftwork, and more)
🔹 Startup support to launch their businesses or secure employment
🔹 Confidence-building and leadership training to foster self-reliance
🔹 Opportunities for community involvement and local economic development
RGAP is not just a skills development program—it is a holistic approach to empowering rural women, ensuring they gain financial stability, social independence, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
By equipping young women with valuable, income-generating skills, we are breaking the cycle of poverty, unemployment, and gender-based economic exclusion.
The Power of Partnership: Thank You, Ghana Exim Bank!
The success of RGAP is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared commitment to women’s empowerment.
This initiative would not be possible without the generous support of Ghana Export-Import Bank (@geximgh). Their investment in sustainable development programs is helping Jodeb Foundation create lasting change in the lives of rural women across Ghana.
“When financial institutions invest in young women’s skills and businesses, they are investing in the future of our communities. We are grateful to Ghana Exim Bank for supporting initiatives that empower women through economic opportunities.” – Jodeb Foundation Representative
By supporting vocational training and entrepreneurship, Ghana Exim Bank is playing a critical role in shaping a future where rural women are financially independent and actively participating in the nation’s economy.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all our partners, donors, and supporters who continue to make this work possible.
Looking Ahead: More Impact, More Lives Transformed
The journey of empowering young rural women doesn’t stop here. Jodeb Foundation remains committed to expanding RGAP, reaching more communities, and providing even greater opportunities for women to thrive.
💡 Our future goals include:
✔ Expanding vocational training centers to accommodate more participants
✔ Providing microfinance support to help young women establish their businesses
✔ Increasing community mentorship programs to encourage continued growth
✔ Strengthening partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability
Each new sewing machine, hair dryer, or vocational toolkit represents a new beginning for a young woman who might otherwise have had limited opportunities. With the right skills and resources, these women will go on to change their own lives and positively impact their communities.
“When you empower a woman, you empower a community.
And when women rise, societies prosper.”
